The Greens Ghana secures IFC EDGE certification as one of the first fully green-certified residential communities in the country

The Greens Ghana has been awarded the internationally recognised EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certification by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. The recognition makes The Greens one of the first fully EDGE-certified residential communities in Ghana and a frontrunner in sustainable real estate development across West Africa.

EDGE is a global green building standard that measures efficiency in energy, water, and materials. The certification affirms The Greens Ghana’s commitment to sustainable design, environmentally responsible construction, and long-term value creation in housing.

“This certification is a major milestone not just for The Greens, but for Ghana’s real estate sector,” said Kiran Daswani, CEO of The Greens Ghana. “We’re proud to offer future-ready homes that prove sustainability and affordability can coexist—and that responsible building is good business.”

The Greens incorporates 20 percent energy savings through passive solar architecture and energy-efficient appliances, achieves 30–40 percent water savings using low-flow plumbing fixtures and drought-tolerant landscaping, and reduces its carbon footprint by prioritising locally sourced, low-impact construction materials.

As climate-conscious development and ESG investing gain momentum among both global and diaspora investors, The Greens is positioning itself as a model for finance-friendly and future-proof housing. The certification also aligns with Ghana’s climate resilience goals and the worldwide movement toward net-zero building practices.

The next phase of the project, currently in progress, will maintain EDGE standards as The Greens expands to meet growing housing demand. By championing sustainable innovation in residential real estate, the development is creating lasting value for homeowners, institutional investors, and the environment.
