The State Housing Company Limited (SHCL) on Monday, May 5, 2025, welcomed a monitoring team from the Parliamentary Select Committee on Works and Housing, which inspected key housing projects at Pokuase, Amrahia, and Adenta. The delegation, led by Vincent Oppong Asamoah, MP for Dormaa West and Chair of the Committee, expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of construction while reaffirming their support to help SHCL deliver and maintain affordability.
SHCL Managing Director, Mr. John S. Bawah, identified delays in infrastructure such as roads, drainage, and water systems as major hurdles affecting timely project completion. He emphasized that these elements must be in place before homes can be handed over to buyers. While SHCL is prepared to construct such amenities if given clearance, Mr. Bawah warned that including the costs in home prices could compromise the company’s core mandate of affordability.
The committee acknowledged these concerns and pledged to escalate the matter for better inter-agency coordination to speed up infrastructure provision around SHCL housing sites. This collaboration, they noted, is essential to ensuring the timely delivery of safe and affordable housing.
With a firm commitment to its mission, SHCL continues to push for stronger partnerships and sustainable solutions to close Ghana’s housing deficit while providing quality homes for its citizens.
