The rising demand for affordable housing and commercial properties is fueling Ghana’s construction boom, and local businesses are now looking beyond borders for growth opportunities. At the forefront is Bruce Edem Akakpo, Project Manager at Construction Dynamics Ltd, Accra, who joined dozens of executives at CalBank’s Trade Summit in Turkey to explore new markets and partnerships.

The annual Business-to-Business (B2B) engagement, organized by CalBank over the last three years, provides Ghanaian companies with exposure to international suppliers, markets, and investors. With Turkey recognized as a global hub for building materials and interior décor, Ghanaian firms are keen to secure cost-effective procurement deals and collaborations.

“Turkey is known for the production of building and construction materials. I’m hoping to tour warehouses, form new partnerships, and procure materials at better prices,” Akakpo told JoyBusiness. His firm is currently executing water supply projects nationwide and expects the summit to open new doors.

According to Daniel Appiah, Head of Commercial Banking at CalBank, this year’s delegation has seen the largest participation from the construction sector, reflecting Ghana’s housing and infrastructure demand. He emphasized CalBank’s commitment to helping clients grow their businesses globally, noting the “fantastic feedback” from past editions.

First-time participant Patrick Nana Dankwah Anin, CEO of Patco Logistics Ltd, also expressed optimism, aiming to expand from port clearing services into imports. Following the Turkey sessions, the delegation will head to Dubai for additional B2B engagements, building on past successes where businesses secured international contracts, expanded exports, and strengthened global collaborations.

With Adansi Travels as the official travel partner, the 2025 Trade Summit underscores CalBank’s dedication to empowering Ghanaian businesses to compete on the global stage.
