The Ghana Embassy in Washington, DC set the stage for stronger economic and investment ties between Ghana and the United States as it hosted the American launch of Diaspora Property Expo (DPE) 2025 on January 22, 2025. The event, themed “Gateway to Ghana: Unveiling Opportunities for Global Diaspora Investors,” highlighted Ghana’s growing real estate market and its attractiveness to the diaspora community.

The Expo, first launched in Ghana in November 2024, is a two-part programme covering the U.S. and Canada. Its U.S. showcase is scheduled for March 21–23, 2025 at 1735 Market Street, Philadelphia, where more than 25 leading Ghanaian developers will exhibit residential and commercial property options to investors.

At the launch, Mr. Francis Gborglah, Acting Head of Mission, assured investors of Ghana’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for both local and international stakeholders. Mr. Paul Cudjoe, Minister of Economic and Diaspora Affairs, emphasized the event’s role in attracting both capital and talent to support Ghana’s broader economic agenda.

Mr. Abu Osuman, Director of the Economic Trade and Investment Bureau (ECTIB), underscored that DPE 2025 was not just about property acquisition but also part of Ghana’s open-door policy for global investors. Daasebre Kweku Ewusi VII, Chairman of DPE and Nkunim Diaspora City, encouraged both Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians to take advantage of Ghana’s diverse investment opportunities.

Adding a Philadelphia perspective, Mr. Thomas Young, President of the World Trade Center, welcomed Ghana’s presence in the city and linked the Expo to Philadelphia’s 2026 global celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. He envisioned strong Africa–U.S. collaborations emerging from the initiative.

Mr. Sidney Justin Tehoda, Country Director of DPE Investment Ltd, announced that 25 verified real estate developers had already committed to the Expo, assuring U.S. investors of credible opportunities. He invited participants to explore Ghana’s property sector firsthand, while Nana Kwesi Atomu II, CEO of Atomu Africa Development Services, urged Ghanaian developers to also consider expanding into Philadelphia and the U.S.

The Washington, DC launch was not only a celebration but also the beginning of what promises to be a transformative platform for diaspora investment, real estate development, and long-term Ghana–U.S. partnerships.
