Eudirok Investment Ghana Limited, in collaboration with international partners, has launched the Regional Smart Cities Project, a groundbreaking initiative designed to redefine urban development, housing and economic opportunities in Ghana. The launch event in Accra brought together stakeholders, industry leaders and experts, all sharing insights into the project’s transformative potential.

Eugene Oyoko Baah, Chief Executive Officer of Eudirok Investment Ghana Limited, described the initiative as a game-changer for the nation and the first in West Africa to apply advanced recycling technologies that convert rubber waste into affordable, sustainable building materials. He explained that Accra’s overpopulation and high housing costs highlight the need for decentralisation. By developing smart cities across different regions, Ghana can reduce reliance on Accra while creating new economic hubs. He added that through a partnership with the Youth Employment Agency, the project will generate jobs for young people and artisans, ensuring they are directly involved in building a sustainable future.

Professor Arezki Dhamani, President of M.U.M Europe, described the Smart Cities Project as more than an infrastructure plan, calling it a civilisation project. He emphasised the importance of laying a strong foundation by harmonising the concept with environmental sustainability and encouraging public engagement. According to him, this is the only way to guarantee long-term success for Ghana’s vision of sustainable cities.

Cherry Emmanuel, CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Construction, highlighted the innovative technologies being introduced. He explained that unlike the traditional reliance on concrete blocks, new methods allow recycled car tyres to be transformed into plasterboards and prefabricated panels. This approach reduces costs and promotes sustainability, though he stressed the need for rigorous testing to ensure the materials are suitable for Ghana’s conditions and truly cost-effective.

The Regional Smart Cities Project is designed to decentralise development, reduce environmental waste and provide affordable housing solutions while engaging local artisans and creating employment opportunities for the youth. It offers a new path for sustainable urban growth, setting Ghana on a trajectory towards balanced development that combines economic progress with environmental responsibility.

Eudirok Investment Ghana Limited has positioned itself as a trailblazer in sustainable development, and through this ambitious project, the company is committed to delivering a future where urban spaces are inclusive, eco-friendly and economically viable for all.
