The Managing Director of Tema Development Company Limited (TDC), Mrs Alice Abena Ofori-Atta, has emphasized the positive impact of the company’s efforts to provide affordable housing for the people of Ghana.
Speaking during a press briefing organized by the Ministry of Information on Sunday, January 15, Mrs Ofori-Atta highlighted the importance of affordable housing delivery in the country.
She acknowledged that while some prospective homeowners may express concerns about the cost of these properties, TDC has implemented payment arrangements that cater to the needs of average-income earners.
Mrs Ofori-Atta stated, “Our building of affordable houses has yielded positive results since its inception.”
One example she cited was the Community 22 Affordable Housing Project, which quickly sold out after construction.
“I believe we built the Community 22 Affordable Housing Project within eight months in 2020. That indicates that we are very serious about what we do. And it was sold out because the prices were very affordable,” she noted.
Mrs Ofori-Atta attributed TDC’s ability to construct affordable housing to its decades of expertise and experience in the housing sector.
She reiterated the company’s commitment to achieving its mission of creating and managing unique and sustainable urban settlements to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
Deputy Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, urged the public to consider TDC’s housing facilities, emphasizing that some of their products do not require deposits.
She added, “They (TDC) will also find ways and means to assist you within the legal framework that they have so that you can own a home.”
